Library to host
Summer Reading
Program in June
The Fort Sumner Public Library Summer Reading Program! kicks off today (Thursday, June 18), at 1 p.m.
On top is registration and a special presentation from New Mexico State’s Agriculture in the Classroom program to learn where our food comes from.
The library will offer 14 different programs from June 18 through July 30. Registration ends on June 24.
June programs include:
• June 24 at 1 p.m. – Stories with a Star, with Ralph, the ENMU Greyhound mascot.
• June 26 at 1 p.m. – Dino Movie and Masterpieces. “The Good Dinosaur” will be shown on the big screen while participants paint their own wooden dinosaur model to take home.
• June 30 at 1 p.m. – Wild West Wildlife at 1 p.m. Participants will meet native critters of New Mexico and Texas. The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center brings the desert to life with this educational animal encounter.

Veterans Mobile
Outreach in Fort June 24
The New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services (NMDVS) Mobile Outreach Vehicle will be in Fort Sumner June 24 at the Fort Sumner Senior Citizens Center, 812 1st Street, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Veterans can meet one-on-one with a Veteran’s Service Officer for assistance with VA and New Mexico State benefit applications. The team will also provide guidance on healthcare, compensation, pensions, education benefits, and state programs and services available to veterans and their families.
Documents needed to verify eligibility:
• A copy of DD-214, NA 13038, NOAA Form 56-16, or PHS Form 1867
• VA Award Letter showing the percentage of disability and any other VA correspondence related to claiming benefits
• NM Driver’s License, ID, voter registration card, or the most recent NM Personal Income Tax Return
• Widow/Widower copy of marriage and death certificates
This is an opportunity to ask questions,cand get help claiming the benefits veterans have earned.
