Pettigrew/White claims WRCA crown

De Baca and Guadalupe counties will be represented at the Working Ranch Cowboys Association World Championship Ranch Rodeo, set for Nov. 12-15 in Amarillo, TX.
The Pettigrew/White Ranches team, based in Fort Sumner and Santa Rosa, scored 27 points in the final two events of the weekend, vaulting to first place and claiming the automatic qualification in the WRCA World Finals.
Featuring Kit Pettigrew, Kasey White, T.J. White, Scott Lewis and Chris Booth, the Pettigrew/White team put together 99 points for the win. They finished five points ahead of runner-up Rocking T Cattle/Flowers Ranch of Munday, TX; and six and a half above defending champ Circle M8 Land and Cattle/High Card Ranch of Silverton, TX.
And they managed to overcome a total of just six points over two nights in the team branding, including a no-time on the first night. Pettigrew/White got by the off-event by winning the average in the Sorting and tying for first in the Wild Cow Milking with Smith Cattle.
Pettigrew/White bronc rider Chris Booth also had a big weekend, tying for first on Friday and tying for third on Saturday. He totaled 23 points and was the overall reserve champ behind Tanner Hart of Santa Fe Land and Cattle/Singleton Ranches.
For their efforts, Pettigrew/White took home $5,800 in cash ($4,000 for first and $1,800 from the events) as well as handmade trophy bits for the team members.
Rocking T Cattle/Flowers Ranch, based in Munday, TX, collected $3,000 and handmade cinches for second place in the final standings, while Circle M8 Land and Cattle/High Card Ranch scratched for the third-straight year. The first place team in 2025, the Silverton, TX-based team had also placed third in 2024.
