Ann Marie Vaughan Porter
Ann Marie Vaughan Porter, age 101, passed away Thursday, June 13th, 2024, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Ann was the 5th of 7 children, born on December 22nd, 1922, on a ranch in Ft. Sumner, New Mexico, to George Rebel Vaughan and Emma Esther Schooler Vaughan.
Ann married David Douglas Porter Jr. on May 15th,1948, in Glendale, California. After David’s early retirement, they moved to Santa Fe to begin their business, Porter Builders, building custom homes. David preceded Ann in death 11 years ago. She is survived by her nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her love of family, inspired her to be an avid genealogist, researching and compiling data to expand her family roots back many generations. Ann was active in her Santa Fe community, volunteering at the public library and local museums, and as a family history consultant at the Family History Center at her church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).
Ann will be remembered for her cheerful, caring, and continued wonderment of God’s creations. She lived with a positive and grateful attitude. She would often be heard saying, ‘I am so fortunate.’ She loved taking day trips with family and friends around northern New Mexico with a stop for lunch.
Her memorial service will be July 13th, 2024, in Ft. Sumner, NM, at the old family ranch.
