Jayson Ramon Lopez, 49 of Clovis, NM passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023 at his home with his family at his bedside.
Visitation hours for family and friends was held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 1pm to 5 p.m. at the Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner. A rosary was recited at 6:00 pm Wednesday from St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2023 from St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Moses Nwankwo officiating. Interment will follow in the Lopez family plot, Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Caesar Gonzales, Randy Detrich, Nicholas Garcia, Jeremy Detrich, D.J. Gonzales, Charles Gonzales, Socorro Hernandez, Timmy Sena, Mark Roybal, Danny Zamora, Andy Martinez, and Mike Saiz. Honorary bearers will be his uncles, BNSF co-workers, and all his many friends.
Jayson was born July 18, 1974 in Fort Sumner to the home of Alberto “Beto” Lopez Jr. and Diana (Gonzales) Lopez. He grew up in Fort Sumner and attended Fort Sumner schools graduating with the class of 1992.
Jason made his home in Clovis where he worked for K. Barnett Construction for several years as a machine operator. He joined the BNSF Railroad as an engineer where he worked for the past 23 years.
Jason married Robin Edwards on August 17, 2004 in Portales, New Mexico. Jason was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clovis and St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner.
Jason was a loving grandfather who enjoyed all the time he spent with his grandchildren. His pastimes included fishing, sports on TV, and riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle.
Jason is preceded in death by his father, Beto Lopez in 2016, his paternal grandparents Alberto Lopez in 2012, Paublita Lopez in 2013; maternal grandparents Dolores Gonzales in 2012, Arturo Gonzales in 2016, and an uncle Albert Gonzales.
Survivors include his wife Robin Lopez of Clovis, two daughters Veronica Lopez (Francisco) of Clovis, Jaydah Lopez (Noah) of Clovis, step-daughter Michaela Fallis of Clovis, step-son Abrey Fallis of Clovis, his mother Diane Lopez of Fort Sumner, a brother Joey Lopez of Fort Worth, TX, nine grandchildren Vicente, Levi, Amen, Serenity, Ezra, Mason, Aaron, Adelina, and Mia. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, co-workers, and a host of friends.
