Green, Jessie Lee

Jessie Lee (Taylor) Green, 80 of House, New Mexico was born August 11, 1942 in Roseburg, OR to the home of Jess and Rosie (Woods) Taylor. Growing up she moved all over the west, living in many different locations from Montana to Washington, California, and Arizona.
A chef by trade there wasn’t anything she couldn’t cook. She was always able to find work. Work is what brought her to New Mexico, as a trouble shooter for the Holiday Inn company. Her favorite job was the 17 years she spent as head cook at House Schools. Jessie loved the kids and co-workers, that was a special time for her.
Upon moving to Clovis, NM she met and fell in love with Robert Green. They were married on April 6, 1974.
Jessie was an avid crocheter, making amazing toy animals for the Tucumcari Craft Fair. She loved the joy it brought many children. She was a member of CRAFT, a craft group in Tucumcari.
Jessie passed from this life on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
She is survived by a son Jackie Rainey (Ira) of Sparta, WI, a daughter Wendy Green-Grigsby (Rodger) of House, NM, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandsons.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband Robert Green, her parents Jess Taylor and Rosie Rainey.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Browning Cemetery, near McAlister, NM. Rev. Joe Sparks officiated the services. Pallbearers included Craig Downey, Calvin Downey, Tedd Tatum, Phil Lyons, Danny Dodd, and Jimmie Joe Jester.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, NM.
