Segura, Pete

Pete Segura, 77 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away at his home on Monday, June 6, 2022 following an illness. He was born September 30, 1944 in Fort Sumner to the home of Luciano and Louisa (Casaus) Segura. Pete attended and graduated from Fort Sumner High School in 1964.
Pete began working at the early age of 7, helping his father who worked at the Overton Ranch. During his high school years, he worked for Raymond Drake at the Texaco Station. He later worked carpentry, building construction, alongside his father in law, A.T. Sena. Pete also worked for David Fikany at Fort Sumner Oil for 15 years. Since May 5, 2005, Pete has worked at Fort Sumner Lumber Company.
Pete married Esther Sena on April 25, 1970 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. They raised their two daughters in the Fort Sumner community. Pete was a hard working man. He never complained about work and awoke every morning ready to do his job. Pete enjoyed watching NASCAR, working in the yard, watching western movies and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Pete is preceded in death by his mother Louisa Segura; his father Luciano Segura; a half sister Sotera Rael and a grandson Kristofer Segura Gauna.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Esther Segura of the home in Fort Sumner; daughters Vicki Casaus and husband Ricky of Fort Sumner, Cindy Adams and husband Adrian of Las Cruces; grandchildren Alexandra Adams of Las Cruces, Evan Casaus of Fort Sumner, Allyssa Casaus of Fort Sumner, Marcus Adams of Las Cruces, Olivia Adams of Las Cruces and Xavier Adams of Las Cruces; sisters Rosalie Gonzales and husband Willie of Fort Sumner and Lois Coronado of Clovis and brother Sonny Segura and wife Esther of Roswell.
Visitation hours will be Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 1-6 p.m. at the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services for will be held Friday, June 10, 2022. Holy Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral Mass. Pallbearers will include Adrian Adams, Marcus Adams, Ricky Casaus, Evan Casaus, Leo Sena, John Sena, Felix Sena and George Gonzales. Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren and extended family.
