Dale Vaughan, age 84, of Clovis, NM passed away peacefully and with God by his side on January 26, 2022 at Vitality Shadow Hills in Lubbock, TX.
Dale was born October 13, 1937 in Clovis to Kenneth Buford and Lena Mae (Miller) Vaughan. He resided with his family in the Kenna community and grew up on the L7 ranch which was owned by his uncle Ed and aunt Irene Denton. Dale started school in a one room schoolhouse in Kenna and graduated from Elida High School in 1955. He joined the Army after high school and served until 1958. He returned to Kenna and worked for his uncle Ed until he met Judy and moved to Clovis. They married on June 29, 1961 in Clovis at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and were married for 55 years until Judy’s passing in 2016.
Dale worked for his father-in-law Ted Waldhauser at Waldhauser Farms before moving on to Swift & Co. where he began his life-long career of buying cattle. He spent over a decade at Swift before moving on to Iowa Beef Processors/Tyson Foods. Dale worked for IBP/Tyson for 30 years before retiring at the age of 70. Dale never met a stranger. In a matter of minutes, he would make new friends and they would exchange life history.
Dale was an avid bowler and golfer. He once bowled a perfect “300” game and had five “hole-in-ones” on the golf course.
Dale loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to watch them play sports and spent much of his later life watching them play football, basketball, baseball, cheerleading and rodeo.
