Carroll Jean (Barnes) Leatherwood
Carroll Jean Leatherwood (Barnes) was born November 2, 1947 in Hobbs, NM. Carroll passed away on April 25, 2021 in Roswell NM.
She was born to parents Floyd Barnes, and Margaret Genevieve Conder. Carroll attended Hobbs High School and attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. She married Dusty Leatherwood on February 26, 1988 in Farwell, TX.
Carroll worked in the animal health industry for more than 40 years, and began her career with Great Plains Chemical of Texas. She was also employed with Lextron, and Clovis Veterinary Hospital before owning and operating Clovis Veterinary Supply for the last 15 years. She lived in Clovis for more than 50 years.
Carroll was an avid supporter of area 4H and local FFA chapters, as well as various youth organizations including the High Plains Junior Rodeo Association and Little Wranglers Rodeo Association. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In her spare time, she listened to books on tape, read, put puzzles together, as well as collecting cool antiques and treasures.
Carroll is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Jackson Cook and Floyd Barnes, and a great granddaughter, Nevaeh Dodge.
Carroll is survived by her husband Dusty Leatherwood; children Kim (Darren) Jackson, Chris (Tracy) Lewis, Les (Misty) Leatherwood, Lisha (Tim) Gonzales, Shiann (Justin) Frizzell and Michael (Reavis) Bell; grandchildren are Kelley, Christen, Matthew, Rusty, Dusty, Caleb, Kyleigh, Colton, Jayton, Kenzee, Shaylee, Morgan, Avery, Treyden, Tyan, and Warren, as well as eight incredible great grandchildren.
Carroll’s services were officiated by Steve Friskup and Ryan Figg held on April 29, 2021 at Muleshoe Fellowship 710 East American Blvd. Muleshoe, TX.
All of Carroll’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a memorial contribution to an FFA chapter or youth organization of your choice.
