Scott Marshall

Scott Marshall, 51, of Fort Sumner passed away January 1, 2022.
Scott was born January 19, 1970 to the home of Tommy and Tricia (Walker) Marshall. He was raised in Fort Sumner. He participated in 4-H, High Plains Rodeo and athletics in school. He graduated with the Fort Sumner High School class of 1988, and went on to attend Western Texas College on a roping scholarship, and studied AgriBusiness. Scott loved roping and enjoyed roping with his buddies.
Scott owned and operated his own business, Scott Marshall Construction building concrete ditches and irrigation systems.
Scott has two children, Brett Marshall and Haley Marshall. He loved helping his children with their 4-H projects and supported them throughout all of their endeavors.
He preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Hubert and Shirley Marshall; maternal grandparents George and Margarete Walker and brother Keith Marshall.
He is survived by his parents Tommy and Tricia Marshall of Fort Sumner; his children Brett Marshall of Albuquerque and Haley Marshall of Clovis; the mother of his children Penny Wylie of Fort Sumner; his dog Baxter; also nieces, nephews and many friends.
Scott will be forever missed.
Funeral Services to celebrate Scott’s life were held Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Fort Sumner Church of Christ with Powhatan Carter and Tom Oliver officiating. Burial followed in the Marshall family plot at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers included Joe Gammill, Clifford Gunn, Luke Cortese, Chris Copeland, Charles Drennan, John Crist, JD Kibbie and Jimmie Don Dobbins. Honorary Pallbearers are all his many friends who threw a rope, went to a team roping, or who he gathered around to and said “remember that time when we…”
